Truth Behind To Love, Honor, and Obey

I remember standing at the altar during the wedding rehearsal and hearing the preacher say, "to love, honor and obey!" I was very young and I didn't like that ‘obey' part and my dad looked at me and said it's the Word, but my spirit said "I have parents and the only person I need to obey is God. I felt uncomfortable with this word because marriage is not slavery and if it's meant to be a covenant setting in the world why are so many of us women despising the word obey?

All You Need Is Love And Psalm 117

Psalm 117 reads as follows from the NIV version of the Bible:

1 Praise the LORD, all you nations;
extol him, all you peoples.

2 For great is his love toward us,
and the faithfulness of the LORD endures forever.
Praise the LORD.

The vision of this psalm is that the Love of the Lord is draped over things through all nations.

Sometimes we all get so immersed in our own little spot and our own things that we don't think and imagine that it is also a great big wide world out there.

The great and enduring love of the Lord continues and extends through all borders and indeed all times.

Travel is as big an industry as it ever was historically as with air flight and advanced means of travel people can go anywhere.

True Love is not Judgmental

When you seek the welfare of others rather than judging them, you are God like.  A less fortunate person than yourself should be the object of your love not criticism.  Whether their misfortune is their own doing or lack thereof, you, who would claim the favor of God, should have nothing but compassion for them.

When I was a child, my grandfather made a great impression on me.  He over heard me talking about someone in a not so flattering way.  His one statement left me feeling embarrassed and ashamed – “If you cannot say something nice about someone then say nothing at all.”

First Things First

Thought:  How to live free from worry

Matt 6:33 But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.

Our first priority is to seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness means to turn to him first for help, to fill your thoughts with his desires, to take his character for your pattern, and to serve and obey him in everything.  What is really important to you?  People, objects, goals and other desires all compete for priority.  Any of these can quickly bump God out of first place if you don’t actively choose to give him first place in your life.

“Worry never robs tomorrow of its sorrow, it only saps today of its joy.”  ~Leo Buscaglia

Letting Go Of Things

Letting go is one of the hardest lessons in life. It's easy to form an attachment to people and things. When you've formed an attachment to people and things, it can be a very painful experience and feeling when you realized that it's time to let go.

Phil 3:7 But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.
