There have been times that we as Christians completely forget or ignore the power of our identity as a new creation. The bible says in
2 cor 5:17
17 This means that anyone who belongs to Christ has become a new person. The old life is gone; a new life has begun!” New Living Translation. Now that newness of life transcends the physical. I have often heard a lot of converts testify and says things like “Hey praise God! You know what; I used to be an addict but all that is history now. Oh I’ve killed a lot of people but today I preach the gospel” Well, yes that’s good…I mean that’s really good. After all, Jesus never came for the righteous; he came for the unsaved and there’s joy in heaven over on single soul that comes out of the darkness into God’s marvelous light. As true as that is…people of God; there is MORE! God isn’t merely contented with your salvation No! Your salvation is only the beginning. Your new identity offers far more than a mental or physical transformation.
Let’s examine a scripture
Rom 121
And so, dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God because of all he has done for you. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice - the kind he will find acceptable. This is truly the way to worship him. 2 Don't copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will learn to know God's will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect. Verse 2 says something very striking “But let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think” God’s very particular about our thoughts, as a matter of fact He is very very interested in them. Do you know why? Proverb 23: 7 For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he: Eat and drink, saith he to thee. I was heard a man of God say “ When God wants to create a thing…His simple imagination makes it happen” Think about it, the creation story explains that clearly. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. 2 The earth was formless and empty, and darkness covered the deep waters. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the surface of the waters. Hovering means to keep lingering about something. Another translation says the spirit of God “brooded” over the surface of the water another word for brood is “hatch” bring to life. That scripture doesn’t tell us that God was using any other creation material than His imagination. God made us just as He is; our thoughts and imaginations are so powerful; such that they can create themselves even before we know it. Paul told the Romans to not be conformed to the world but changed by the RENEWING of their minds. When you’re born again your mind must be renewed; you CANNOT and should not allow any other thoughts contrary to the scriptures to becloud your mind. The word of God in you will cause your mindset to conform to God’s desire for you. The big question is what should a Christian allow his or her thoughts be centered on? A very good question. The answer is not farfetched, ANYTHING GOOD! As an offspring of God you have an edge over anything that is of this world.
1 John 5:4
“ For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith” What is that thing that puts us ahead of the world? What is that thing that makes us unstoppable and victorious everyday and every time? You see people of God there’s always a rub off of God on everything that’s yours or connected to you one way or the other. Consider the story of Abraham and lot in
Gen 13
, lot, who was traveling with Abram, had also become very wealthy with flocks of sheep and goats, herds of cattle, and many tents. 6 But the land could not support both Abram and Lot with all their flocks and herds living so close together. 7 So disputes broke out between the herdsmen of Abram and Lot. (At that time Canaanites and Perizzites were also living in the land.) 8 Finally Abram said to Lot, "Let's not allow this conflict to come between us or our herdsmen. After all, we are close relatives! 9 The whole countryside is open to you. Take your choice of any section of the land you want, and we will separate. If you want the land to the left, then I'll take the land on the right. If you prefer the land on the right, then I'll go to the left." 10 Lot took a long look at the fertile plains of the Jordan Valley in the direction of Zoar. The whole area was well watered everywhere, like the garden of the LORD or the beautiful land of Egypt. (This was before the LORD destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.) 11 Lot chose for himself the whole Jordan Valley to the east of them. He went there with his flocks and servants and parted company with his uncle Abram. 12 So Abram settled in the land of Canaan, and Lot moved his tents to a place near Sodom and settled among the cities of the plain. 13 But the people of this area were extremely wicked and constantly sinned against the LORD. 14 After Lot had gone, the LORD said to Abram, "Look as far as you can see in every direction—north and south, east and west. 15 I am giving all this land, as far as you can see, to you and your descendants [15] as a permanent possession. 16 And I will give you so many descendants that, like the dust of the earth, they cannot be counted! 17 Go and walk through the land in every direction, for I am giving it to you." I hoped you really followed that story well. Now if you did you would have noticed that it was Abraham that called Lot. And it was also he that suggested to lot to pick any place of his choice. And the bible says Lot picked the best part. The big question is what made Abraham behave in such a seemingly foolish manner. It is a knowledge; a consciousness, an awareness of the presence of God with him. He knew that even if he were to move to the desert; God would still have sustained him. THE GOD FACTOR You know something; I am an entrepreneur, and truthfully my line of business is somewhat competitive in nature. But despite that fact , in less than a year; we have recorded huge and supernatural progress. And guess what, each time I share my testimony like this. The spirit of God responds by saying:” Son this is just the beginning “ Where are you now? What are you doing? Don’t struggle, don’t fret. Just allow that “God factor” work in it. That’s all you need. It worked for Isaac, Jacob, Jeremiah, David, peter and even Paul. Well, today it’s your turn. Whatever you are faced with always remember, you have the edge THE GOD FACTOR.
