Want to know what it is? The suspense is just killing you isn't it? Are you worried about what the answer might be? Afraid that it might add to your worry list? Well again, just relax.
Okay here's the answer ā prayer. What?! Yes, that's right, prayer. When you are stressed out, overwhelmed, worried, and just about to be at your breaking point, stop and pray. "But Iā¦" look, it's not difficult to just stop, drop everything and pray.
You can do this! Have faith that you can let all this worry go out the door. "How?" you might ask. Well that's a great question. Here's how:
- Sit down and make a list of everything (I mean everything) that's stressing you out and causing you to worry. That means bills, schoolwork, teachers, friends, relationships, lack of money, etc., everything!
- Now take that list and place your hand on it. (I know this may sound kind of silly but trust me it works).
- Next, close your eyes and pray. Tell God how you're majorly stressed about everything on that list (and probably some things you forgot).
- Ask God to release these burdens from you; to help you to not worry.
- Then after you have prayed for however long it takes you to do that, don't worry.
Now I know what you're thinking, "Easy for you to say." No, it's not really. I am just as guilty of this whole worrying thing as the next person is. But here's something you need to remember as a Christian, we are not called to worry.
In fact, we're not supposed to worry. The Bible says we shouldn't worry. It even says we should not be anxious. And worrying doesn't do us any good anyway. As I said earlier, we're only hurting ourselves physically (making ourselves sick), emotionally (stressing out more and more), and spiritually (doubting God will do what He says He'll do). So you see ā worrying is just a waste of time and energy.
So why are you worrying? God knows all your needs even before you ask. Do you not trust that He'll do what His Word says? Do you not believe in His promises? Don't you think God knows what's best for you?
Then do not worry. He knows exactly what you're going through and He's not surprised by it. He just wants you to draw closer to Him and be the person He has called you to be. He wants you to glorify Him in all you say and do.
Think on this: "do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplicationwith thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God,which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~Philippians 4:6-7
